Eighteen years, roughly
2008 — Where It Started
It started with plants, fish, and a lot of mistakes.
My first tank was simple. I kept plants, added fish, tried things, watched them fail, and started again. I didn't know much back then — I just knew I wanted to understand how these little ecosystems worked.
What I keep, and what I send
Where it startedThis is where it really began. I spent years building ponds in the open air, trying to make them look like nothing had been built at all. Waiting for one to find its own balance — and sitting out the months when it wouldn't — taught me patience long before it taught me anything about plants.
What I growHealthy plants don't happen by chance. I learned that slowly, and mostly by killing things. Everything we send is grown on in our own tanks first, because a plant that arrives already established is the difference between a hobby that sticks and one that quietly ends after a month.
The small worldI got curious about what happens on a forest floor and never really got over it. Lift a corner of moss and there is an entire crew down there — springtails, isopods, things you need to lean in to see — quietly keeping the whole place clean. A jar that looks after itself still feels like a small miracle to me.
After the orderIt doesn't end when you check out. Every box is packed the way I'd pack one for a friend in the hobby, and if something arrives unhappy — or sulks a week later — write to me. I would far rather help you bring a tank back than sell you a replacement for it.
None of this was a plan. It started with one tank and a lot of plants I couldn’t keep alive, and it kept going because I couldn’t leave it alone. Then a lot of you decided to trust a hobbyist with your first plants. Thank you for that. Genuinely.
